Battle of Gundabad App Reviews

I am a big Dominion fan and was pleased to see this app on the store. I dont know about the theme of this implementation, but the art is nice and its still a great card game. Hope we get online multiplayer and maybe an iPad version!

I have played the second campaign mission like 30 times and I cant beat it. Any advice

A thinking persons game, similar to many euro deck building games. Campaigns are tough but fun. Should make it so the starting player is randomized (currently, its always the human player). With an update for multiplayer, would get five stars.

This is a blatant ripoff of Dominion, a best selling board game that hopefully, will eventually make its way to the app store if theres any justice. In the meantime, anyone buying this version is condoning the developer for stealing someone elses game. Ethically and morally, the release of this "product" angers me.

No seriously. Its an exercise in beating your head against a wall. Imagine playing against a discard deck in Magic. Now imagine that its a 4 player game and all three of your opponents are playing discard decks. So by the time your turn gets there? you have 2 cards that dont DO anything. And this goes on for as many rounds as it takes you to get lucky enough to draw a +3 card followed by 3 attack cards. Then you can do something. Then you wait another 5 rounds while you wait for that magical combo to come up again. Seriously. Did the dev even PLAY this?

Ive played 100 games so far have won just over half the time and played the first 6 campaigns. #2 is easy to beat, only buy 1 action card, Hysteria, and youll do fine. Gameplay is really smooth and quick once you can remember what the cards do without having to double click on them. Hope you will add expansions - Ill gladly pay for them.

While the game play and interface are pretty good here.... This game is stepping all over two intellectual properties. LotR and Dominion. On top of that, the Campaign play is nothing more than a puzzled played agains a perfect opponent... which in my mind is worthless.

Amazing game... Being a huge dominion fan, this game rocks. Problem is campaign mode is crazy hard. Level 2 took an hour, and only way to beat is to get lucky. Level 3 i probably will never beat. (just discovered ai cheats, turn 1 on level 3 ai gets commander which costs 6, impossible with 5 cards. No wonder i lose 40- 20) fix ai please and i change to 5 stars...I think game needs easier levels and then make these levels boss levels. But still great game for the price. Honestly who cares if it is dominion, if dominion doesnt like it, put a game on ipad...

First of all, its a bit shameless how badly you ripped off "Dominion". Seriously, you cant feel good about yourselves. Anyway, with that out of the way I LOVE YOUR GAME (since I love Dominion) and since theres no other Dominion game on the iPhone, this rocks. In one day I beat the entire campaign, just couldnt stop playing. I love those campaign challenges but I WANT MORE OF THEM. I also think there should be possibly twice as many cards. You know what would be awesome? If cards were UNLOCKABLE. In-App Purchases for expansions would be okay, but unlocking new cards would be so badass. If you want to avoid adding a lot of new content, then what you have to do is make the game multiplayer. Honestly, you should probably do both, but either would be a good start. Finally, what the hell is with those "Gem" buttons. Green gem, Red gem, how the hell am I supposed to know what those mean? Those are the single UI blemish on an otherwise great UI. I mean it, really good work, you evil bastards.

To all of u mad that this is a knock off of dominion your dumb. Who cares. If the makers of dominion dont want to put there game in the app store Im just glad these people made something like it. There are only a few problems I have with this game. There needs to be a way to save a game ur in without losing it... And theres a bug where when they play a card like the disarm and u have to discard 2 cards, I notice if u swipe the 2 cards a little to fast to discard the game will freeze everytime, really frustrating! Other than that great game!

Please make the game multiplayer (1-4 players on one iPod).

Rip off of Dominion? Of course it is... But as long as there is no official Dominion implementation on iOS I am fine with it. Might even get some people interested in the Dominion card game who otherwise might not have discovered it and that is a good thing. Wish there were some other options such as turning off the music but not the sound and the ability to go into help and see all the possible cards. I would love to eventually see Dominion on here (I own all the games) but in the meantime this scratches the Dominion itch on the go.

As many have stated before, yes this game uses both the mechanics and the specific cards from Dominion, but Im happy to evaluate it on its own merits until an official Dominion comes out. The art and the interface are quite good, allowing you to play a full round in about 10 minutes. There are some obvious oversights, like being able to disable the maddening music while leaving the sound, and the ability to choose your set of cards. All that being said, this game achieves what weve all wanted for some time: a quality game of Dominion on our IPhone against a competent AI. If thats what youre looking for, you will almost certainly be satisfied. And to those who have moral qualms with purchasing a game that copies the ideas of another game developer, just make sure to buy the official version when it comes out and no financial harm will have been done. I can understand the intellectual theft concern, but honestly I feel this game is filling a strong market demand, and noone will mistake it for an original.

Challenging card game taken from the excellent Dominion game. Well designed, quick, and with a challenging Campaign mode. I would love to see expansions or an official Dominion game. Until then this is dozens of hours of fun.

People, while I do grant the thought that the 2nd level of the campaign is a pain for such an opening, it kind of fits the story of little Bolg trying to go out into the big, bad world. First tip: dont care about your stupid spearmen, as long as you start with 3 or 4 in the first hand, youre good to go and never really need them again...oners are goners. Just buy a "Pillage" for 3 power. Next turn, dont buy anything not even a spearman! Even if you manage to ever have 3 spearmen left (highly unlikely since they all have 3 "Paralyze"), DONT buy any "Archers" (power 2), not for a while. Continue until the Pillage is in your hand, buy "Endless Rage" with it. Now continue playing and passing on Action and Drafting turns until pillage comes up again, and buy Hysteria. Now keep going through your deck evenling buying mostly Pillage and Endless Rage, keeping the piles even (Paralyze is not bad as well, but the AI tends to buy those, get a few if you want, but we wont be drafting any thing). When you have a system to get silvers like crazy, start buying them up...and bam, with Endless Rage giving you actions and Hysteria giving you card, you can get all your powers out and get your castle.

Yes, its Dominion for the most part. AI is very good and bears up to repeated plays. Campaign quests are a great idea for a change of pace. If you like Dominion at all, this is well worth the $2. Im hoping hoping hoping theyll add some expansion cards so we can play with more than 20 cards.

Badly in need of update. Gameplay is good, no bugs, and ai works well. Enjoy game, but wish they would add more cards or just publish dominions cards. Do play this daily even though stagnate.

This is exactly like dominion minus the art and card names. It contains most of the dominion base cards and a few of the intrigue expansion cards as well as at least 2 cards which are original to BoG. The campaign was really enjoyable and made the gameplay interesting. What it needs to be 5 stars: add expansions, add multiplayer, add difficulty levels for the computer and the ability to choose the number of opponents. With those features added this could become amazing.
